Jonathan has over 25 years of brand and strategy development and design experience in Asia, Europe and the US. After 5 years as Managing Director at Addison Design in Singapore, and 3 years in San Francisco, Jonathan branched out to set up Bonsey Design in 1993, and has championed his team towards award-winning designs across the Asia Pacific region.

As Principal of the firm, Jonathan is responsible for the supervision of the company’s clients, including all aspects of the firm's project’s creative direction and strategic development. His background spans from F&B - he was originally keen to pursue a career in food - to furniture design and a abortive attempt at Landscape Architecture. Since then he focussed on Brand Development and is one of Asia’s most experienced design consultants and is an active speaker and contributor to the development of branding and strategy in Asia.

Jonathan was a founder Member of the Designers Association of Singapore and is on the advisory panel of the World Brand Forum.

We're excited to hear from Jonathan and his take on the idea of 'Freedom'.

The National Design Centre (NDC) is the nexus for all things design. This is where designers and businesses congregate to exchange ideas, conduct business, use its facilities and obtain assistance from the national agency for design, the DesignSingapore Council. Centrally located in the arts, cultural, learning and entertainment district in the Bras Basah-Bugis area, it is well placed to invite the public to learn about design through its exhibitions and programmes.

The DesignSingapore Council

The vision of the DesignSingapore Council is for design to differentiate Singapore from global competition. As the national agency for design, the Council’s mission is to develop the design sector, and to help Singapore use design for innovation and growth, as well as to make life better. The DesignSingapore Council is part of the Ministry of Communications and Information.
